Artist Statement

Over the past two years my focus has been on the HABITAT for ARTISTS project. Working outside the normal parameters of the usual art practice, and partnering with a variety of groups and individuals in a variety of communities.

The HFA goal is to place the artist in an accessible position so as to be a catalyst for a new
dialogue about creativity and making and with a new audience , with an emphasis on relevancy to that audience or location.

The accessibility to the artist comes through the placement of small, temporary, reusable Studios, in the community. The studios are made of recycled materials and the artists work
and explore new ways of working.. unplugged but open to discourse …

Over 50 artists have contributed to the HFA project to date with over 30 residencies in over 20 locations . HFA has worked with a variety of groups which include Solar 1 NYC, Urban Go Green NYC, The Hudson Highland Land Trust, Scenic Hudson, Historic Huguenot, SUNY NewPaltz, Burlington County College NJ, SCEE Philadelphia PA and the Common Ground CSA Farm at Stonykill NY
